National technology education leader internalDrive (iD) is coming to Lawrence for a series of summer tech camps for children ages 7-17 beginning June 7 on the University of Kansas campus.
The Campbell, Calif.-based internalDrive, Inc. targets prestigious universities across the country to host its award-winning camps, including Stanford, UCLA, Northwestern, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Washington University in St. Louis. The 2009 summer camps will mark the first time iD Tech Camps have been offered at KU.
KU and the University of Texas at Austin are the only Big XII Conference schools selected to host the camps.
The camps consist of weeklong, day and overnight programs, during which participants can choose from a variety of tech-related courses, including creating video games, designing Web sites using Flash, filming digital movies, learning programming, and building robots.
The company’s hands-on, one-on-one course structure limits the student-instructor ratio to about 6:1. Students work with new real-world curriculum and technology inspired by some of the most influential brands in technology, including Adobe, Apple, Canon, HP, and Microsoft.
Discounts for KU staff and faculty can be received if they register by March 15th and use their university email address with code USF88.
