Frederick W. Pawlicki,
Executive Director of KU Continuing Education
Since the inception of the first "School of University Extension" in 1891, the University of Kansas has been a leader in lifelong learning. By responding to the educational needs of working people across our state and others without access to a college or university, KU Continuing Education has evolved into a national leader in the delivery of high-quality professional education, workforce development and distance learning. Now, after 115 years, KUCE serves not only the people of Kansas and the region, but offers courses that expand our reach around the globe.
KU Continuing Education serves more than 60,000 people of diverse backgrounds from all age groups. With more than 1,000 courses, programs and conferences annually, we support KU’s academic, research and community service initiatives.
Utilizing the strength of KU’s world-class faculty, we offer courses for post-graduate working professionals, Independent Study courses for KU credit, and a variety of other non-credit courses designed for intellectual enjoyment and personal growth.
As we enter the 21st century, we are aggressively expanding our online and distance-learning presence by utilizing the latest in interactive video conferencing and innovative Web-based learning technologies.
