Carl E. Locke, Jr. is dean emeritus and professor emeritus in the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas. He currently is a member of ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission which accredits engineering programs.
He served as dean of the School of Engineering for 17 years and professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering for three years. His research interests are in the corrosion of steel in concrete. Locke is co-author of Anodic Protection: Theory and Practice in the Prevention of Corrosion. Previously, he served as director of the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Oklahoma.
He was named a Distinguished Engineering Graduate by the College of Engineering at the University of Texas and was a recipient of the Distinguished Engineering Service Award from the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Society for Engineering Education. Locke holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Texas Austin.
