Air Management: The Point of No Return

January 23, 2010Pittsburg Fire Station #1, 915 West 4th St., Pittsburg, Kan.

This dynamic, innovative presentation is transforming the way the National Fire Service views air management, tactical safety, and firefighter survival. Utilizing an interactive workbook, dramatic audio/video, stimulating discussions, and everyday scenarios, we create a synergistic learning experience where students lead as well as learn. At the center is "The Need, the Mandate, and the Solution," which provides students with practical information along with time-tested, hands-on training drills to take back to their departments.

Topics of discussion:

  • The Rule of Air Management (ROAM)
  • The Point of No Return
  • How firefighters are dying in structures
  • The changes that occurred to NFPA 1404 and how they will affect you
  • Factors that affect the duration of a firefighter’s air supply
  • READY checks buddy check
  • A review of close calls from across the United States
  • Practical ways to train firefighters to manage air
  • What "Out of Air" looks like

Your approach to the fireground and air management will be dramatically changed by this seminar. These and many other topics will make for a great day of learning and classroom participation. The consistent comment we receive from firefighters across the spectrum of experience is: "I wish I’d had this class years ago. I can take this stuff and use it tonight."
