SOC 523 Sociology of Aging and the Life Course |

An advanced survey of theory and research in social gerontology, giving primary attention to aging and the aged as affected by social organization, including such social institutions as familial, economic, political, and health care; organizational processes such as social stratification; and living environments including community and housing. In these contexts, certain demographic, cross-cultural, social-psychological, and physiological aspects of aging will also be considered. Prerequisite: A principal course in sociology.
