The Amber Alert Program will be the focus of a series of classes for Kansas law enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies and the wireless industry at various locations around the state. The classes are presented by the Office of the Attorney General and the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.
The AMBER Alert Program is a voluntary partnership between law enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the wireless industry, to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the entire community to assist in the search for and the safe recovery of the child. Topics include:
In addition, a presentation will be made and literature provided on the Florida-based "A Child is Missing " alert system. "A Child is Missing" is a non-profit organization that provides a free service to law enforcement agencies in assisting in recovering lost or missing children, the elderly, or disabled. This program can be used as a secondary response if the criteria for an Amber Alert is not met.
This free four-hour course is de-signed in a train-the-trainer format, so students can bring the material back to their agencies to teach their own in-service training programs and programs to the community.
