Overview

This program will provide a brief synopsis of recent relevant issues in gastrointestinal diseases for clinical gastroenterologists. Each topic will include presentation and discussion of four to eight clinically important and seminal abstracts presented during DDW 2008 in San Diego, Calif. by the speaker followed by an interactive question/answer session.

This program is designed for gastroenterologists.

Objectives

At the completion of this program, participants should be able to:

• List new developments in the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease and functional bowel disorders.
• Assess the use of new technology and techniques such as cancer imaging, stents and wireless endoscopy in patient care.
• Apply the principles of evidence-based medicine towards the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel and motility disorders of the digestive tract.
• Identify the controversies surrounding the literature in the endoscopic management of biliary and pancreatic diseases.
