This symposium will discuss current trends in the treatment of child psychiatric disorders. Dr. John March will discuss new developments in the treatment of anxiety, OCD, and mood disorders. He will also provide an overview of how progress in developmental neuroscience offers the future possibility of a world without mental illness. Dr. Bob Batterson will review the rational use of "combined" psychotropic medications, such as treatment regimens that include antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and stimulants. Dr. Smith will present evidenced-based psychotherapies that can be used in combination with or as alternatives to medication management.
This symposium is intended for psychiatrists, pediatricians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other clinicians providing mental health treatment to children and adolescents. The symposium also welcomes students and trainees in the above fields.
