Overview

Pulmonary hypertension is a cardiopulmonary disorder that substantially affects patients and their families. Much progress has been made during the past few years in the treatment of this devastating disease. This conference will review key concepts in the diagnosis, management and care of patients with pulmonary vascular disorders, as well as provide updated information about new and emerging therapies. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss interesting cases and ask questions of physicians who are leaders in the pulmonary hypertension community.

A non-credit Patient Education symposium will be held, Friday, October, 2 in conjunction with the Midwest Pulmonary Vascular Conference. Visit the Patient Education Symposium page for more information.

Target Audience

This conference is designed for internists, family physicians, pulmonologists, cardiologists, rheumatologists, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists and other interested health professionals.

Objectives

At the completion of this conference, participants (as appropriate to their scope of practice) should be able to:

Identify, describe or classify patients who are at risk of developing pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) and recognize the common signs and symptoms of the disease
Identify, describe and/or assess current and emerging therapies for the management of pulmonary artery hypertension and pulmonary hypertension complicating other pulmonary and cardiac disorders
Evaluate patients for various treatment options for management of venous thromboembolic disease
Diagnose and/or manage patients with pulmonary arteriovenous malformations
