The course provides an understanding of available fiber and matrix materials, manufacturing methods, and the mechanical behavior of composite materials. The course topics include material behavior and selection, general anisotropic theory, elastic constants, and stiffness matrix formulation; computer analysis, strength, and theory of failure for usable composites. Damage tolerance and reparability of structural composites are also discussed.
