The Coping Power Program is a group-based preventive intervention designed by Dr. John Lochman and colleagues to help reduce children’s aggressive behavior and prevent later substance use. The program employs a contextual sociocognitive framework and involves both children and families. Results of outcome evaluations have indicated that program completers evidence reduced substance use at end of intervention and at one-year follow-up, reduced delinquent behavior at one-year follow-up, reductions in aggressive behavior at home and at school, and improved social competence (see http://bama.ua.edu/~lochman/index2.htm for additional information about the program). The pre-conference workshop is designed to provide attendees with practical guidance for the implementation of the Coping Power Program in clinical settings. Three (3) hours of CE credit are available to workshop attendees. Registration is limited and requires a separate fee. Proceeds from the workshop will benefit the American Academy of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (www.clinicalchildpsychology.net). Please see the Conference Registration Form for more information.
