Certificate Requirements
The certificate is awarded after completion of the three modules, including all quizzes and final exams. Participants must attain a minimum of 65 percent for each module and an aggregate average of at least 75 percent in the program. The course amounts to approximately 150 classroom hours of instruction and assessment. The certificate will state that the recipient has earned 15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 150 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). However, the course does not carry any college credits and cannot be used as part of a degree seeking program.
Quiz and Exam Marking Scheme
The grade will be based on quizzes and the three final exams, all of which are
- offered online as part of the course material,
- done with an "open-book" approach, and
- based on a "True/False" selection.
Quizzes and exams are derived from the instructor’s actual work experience.
- Quizzes
- There are 16 quizzes—one per session.
- There is an unlimited time within a module delivery time for students to submit a quiz. However, quizzes must be done before their corresponding final exam.
- Students are allowed ONLY ONE attempt to answer each question.
- Final Exams
- There are three final exams.
- There is a 14-day window for students to submit each final exam. This window will open for 14 days starting at the last online session of each module (i.e., at sessions number 6, 11 and 16 for Modules 1, 2 and 3, respectively).
- Students are allowed ONLY ONE attempt to answer each question.
- Missed Final Exams
- If you have a valid doctor's note, you can reschedule a missed final exam.

Course Delivery
- This online class will be delivered using the Blackboard Learning System and Adobe Connect.
- Class preparation material consists of:
- The assigned chapter(s) from the book, and
- The assigned online notes for a particular session.
All students are expected to review the material before the online session. The online session should provide ample time for student questions and discussions. The online session IS NOT a substitute for reviewing the assigned materials, since it will not be possible to cover all the session's material in a 60-minute tutorial.
- Each section has reading material (the assigned notes) followed by a quiz. It is recommended that students read the corresponding chapter in the textbook and the assigned online notes provided BEFORE the online session. During the 60-minute online session (starting every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time), that section/chapter will be discussed in and all questions answered.
- The course has 17 sessions. The first is an introductory session—a "get-to-know-you session," where the course format will be explained and general questions answered. It is recommended that all students be present online at this introductory session, Thursday, September 29. The following 16 sessions cover the technical material.
Instructor Availability
- During the online session, students can post questions on Adobe Connect. The instructor will answer the questions orally, ensuring that all students are able to benefit from questions and answers, just like in a traditional classroom. Each session will be archived, so students can refer back to it at a later time.
- Outside the online session, students can use e-mail to contact the instructor. The instructor will reply within two business days.
