Testimonials

  • I can’t remember a time when the coursework has matched my teaching experience more perfectly.
  • I appreciate the incredible volume and quality of information and range of content in this course. I appreciated the many examples and templates that I can use immediately. I think there was a great mix of types and formats of information provided.
  • This information helped me categorize and organize the information. We have an in-service day this month, and I hope to do a presentation on transition planning.
  • I really learned so much from this course that I will use in my everyday practice. Several of the assessments I have saved in a special file so I can continue to access them after the course is completed. I have also picked out a few assessments that I will be trying with students very soon.
  • This is such a great series of classes. I am not quite finished with this one and am already looking forward to the next.
  • This online learning experience on transition assessment has been a gift. I have been able to begin to put my hands on materials and have questions about assessment answered for the first time in over a year.
  • I feel like I have a toolbox of resources now. I work with so many different students at varying levels and different disabilities, I now have choices.
  • I hope with all of the information I’ve learned in these classes I’ll be able to apply my skills in helping students move forward, and there will be a lot more IEP meetings where students feel good when they leave.
  • I have already shared much of what I learned in this course with colleagues.
  • This course has given me the confidence to approach transition in a different way. This can only benefit the students with whom I work. Knowing I have these resources is very comforting. The tools I bring to my job as a result of this class will help support me in my practice.
  • I found it to be useful and have put some of the knowledge that I gained to use already. I like how I can do the assignments at my convenience. When I have a few minutes I can log on and work on the assignments, and it does not matter where I am or what time of day it is. The weekly assignments are written in a way that makes it easy for me to understand what is being asked of me, and they pertain to my daily work life. I also like the discussion forums as it gives me a chance to interact with the other students. I also believe that it is easy to contact the instructor if necessary.
  • I had an educational and joyful experience these past four weeks, and I know that since I already have incorporated some or a part of these assessments into my classroom teaching techniques.
  • This is the first online course I have taken. It has been very convenient for me, a person with a job, a business and children.
  • I really like the discussion part of the course. I get other people’s points of view who are in similar situations. They may even help come up with a solution to a particular problem I am facing. It may be something they have dealt with in the past or have experienced.
  • One of the most helpful parts of the class was accessing and reviewing transition resources put out by the federal and state government, as well as other public resources. I was also able to access the resources of my peers, learning what they found important in transition and being able to share my own knowledge with them. Overall, I have developed key resources and strategies to assist me in working on transition plans with my students.
  • Overall, I found this training helpful in focusing me toward what’s vital in a student’s transition to adulthood. I have been asking for assistance in writing transition goals and have finally found a place where I can access what I need. I plan to share these resources and materials at our next Special Education meeting. I feel I will be writing better IEPs and working on better transition plans after this course. I also am much more aware of the importance of inviting many outside services in trying to create a whole picture of transition for my students.
  • I like the flexibility in reading assignments, watching videos, engaging in discussions when it is convenient for me. I am pleasantly surprised that this process was so painless. I would not hesitate to take another online class.
  • I felt the material was well balanced. I really enjoyed the combination of discussion boards, reading, videos, and navigating Web sites. I did initially worry that this class would be all reading and offer little connection with others in my field, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it felt like a real classroom and that I had conversations with my classmates. Technology-wise, everything seemed to work well.
  • I felt like I had real conversations with others doing similar work. I found both similar comments to my own and new ideas to discuss in the discussion boards.
  • This class filled in a lot of the blanks I have had in working with students on their transition plans.
  • Introduction to Transition Education and Services course has been both enlightening and motivational. I have gained so much useful information from this class. I recommend it to anyone in education, special educators as well as general educators and administrators.
  • Overall, I feel very fortunate to have discovered this online class. I feel that I am gathering valuable information and Web sites that I will be able to share with my colleagues. The information will help me guide my students and their parents to their vision. I feel more confident when working with outside agencies and knowing what to ask for when supporting the student. The class has been a nice mix of interactive links and readings. Some classes only consist of reading articles or studies. I appreciate hearing from other professionals as to what works or doesn’t work in their district and knowing that I am not alone. Although transition has been included in the law for about 17 years, we are still trying to interpret the law and implement transition plans into our districts. The Web sites that you have offered are invaluable and I would have never had the time to investigate these sites on my own time.
