Major Dan Lonsdorf, director of Wisconsin’s Highway Safety Office, located in the Department of Transportation, coordinates highway safety behavioral improvement projects and programs. He is an executive board member of the Governor’s Highway Safety Association. As director, Major Lonsdorf oversees highway safety initiatives designed to improve the quality of life for all users of the state’s transportation system. As a major in the highway patrol, Lonsdorf has broad experience in management of highway safety strategies, including supervising a vast range of state patrol traffic safety initiatives, such as aircraft and motorcycle patrols, work zone enforcement, crash reconstruction, and fleet management of more than 500 patrol cars. A state trooper for 28 years, Major Lonsdorf patrolled the interstate highways around Wisconsin’s capitol city of Madison, detecting and arresting more than 950 impaired drivers during his 13-year tenure as a patrol trooper.
Ruth Shults, Ph.D., MPH, is a senior epidemiologist in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). Her area of concentration is motor vehicle crash prevention.

During her 11-year tenure on the motor vehicle team, Dr. Shults has led CDC’s research and program activities in the areas of alcohol-impaired driving, safety belt use, and teen driving. In this role, she coordinates systematic reviews of interventions to increase seat belt use and reduce alcohol-impaired driving for the Guide to Community Preventive Services. The findings of a systematic review on 0.08 percent blood alcohol concentration (BAC) laws helped to establish 0.08 percent as the illegal BAC for adult drivers nationwide. Other research interests include community-level influences in reducing alcohol-impaired driving.

Bill D. Cordes is a speaker, consultant and author. He has keynoted for conventions, conferences, schools and universities nationwide. His programs have been featured in 47 states, to well over two million participants.
Mr. Cordes is the author of The YOGOWYPI Factor, and has co-authored Teen Power Too, Teen Empower, Teen Power Through Christ, Teen Power and Beyond, and Lead Now or Step Aside.
Mr. Cordes did his graduate and undergraduate work at the University of Hawaii and Fort Hays State University. He was awarded Graduate Student Teacher of the Year by the International Communication Association while attending Fort Hays State University.
